working life lesson
hellow again world :D well, it's been a very long break since my last post. since...around 1 month ago my life was upside down like roller coaster. i've been living for around 3 months without my salary, which was promised to come but even i never see the shadow. i've been 'fighting' for my way out of malaysia. i've been crying, laughing, being thankful, being hurt, stress to the max. hehehe. i learned a lot too.
first of all, for all fresh graduates, please get the black and white contract with your company you're about to join! no matter what they say no matter what circumstances it is. you must have that. easy for you easy for them. and it's your own damn right to have that. 2nd thing, keep your passport with you. they may need it to process the working visa, but please ask them to give it back to you whatever it is, soon! no one can actually hold your passport even single day. it's country's document, unless you, no one can keep or take it actually. so please be alert about that. read the contract again at least 2 times before you ever sign it! see the details like salary, when it'll be paid, day offs, reimbursements, resignation process, etc.
working life can be good and completely sucks. thankfully actually i had quite good colleagues. mostly good people. there is adaptation, continuously learning experiences everyday, and a lot of other things. but those things are coming from both sides. not only you but also from the company.
nothing can really hold you back when you want to resign. think carefully about this thing also. no working place is perfect. if it's still tolerable, just continue. but if it's already too much, you can try to talk to them and make things work. but if it doesn't work as well, you can welcome yourself to leave. nothing is more frustrating than waking up in the morning and think 'ow snap, i need to go to work'. not the right attitude to start your day!
trusting people. not everyone can be trusted. not everyone who talks nice is actually nice. not all glittering things are gold! keep that in your mind. a lot of people out there are too professional to make other people think they are very professional. they polish the outer looks and after some times, you will begin to see the inside. nothing is too late to realize and do something. it's also better to be able to make a line between personal relationship/thoughts than working relationship.
and if you're working in other countries, if anything happens, please go to your embassy. they will help you no matter what! so don't hesitate to talk to them about your problems.
be smart in managing your money. first salary is so tempting to be finished soon. that's still tolerable. but you need to start saving your money on 2nd month and so on. why? you don't know when thing that happened to me will happen to you or no.in case they stop paying you, you're not end up being a beggar.
last thing, know your friends and enemies! again, not all glittering things are gold!
i'm now safe and sound. but those are the things i wish i knew 1 year ago :)
