My insight about designer things...

Image
Just this afternoon, my colleague asked me a quite interesting question. how do designers work? how do the generate ideas? their artwork is like an expression, how they think, how they see. how do they do it? well, first of all, designers aren't magician or entertainer only. we can't make things outta nowhere to be there in a zap nor we only create fancy things. we do sometimes, when we know why we do it. or just sometimes, the situation asks to do so. designers, mostly, have rationale behind everything they put in the artwork. they have ideas behind it, even the simplest artwork you may see. there's a thought behind that. note : there's a BIG difference between simplicity and laziness. first of all, we do need all the facts before we start dreaming. we do need all the rules before we start breaking it one by one. that's when our common sense plays along. after that we can start dreaming, concepting, generating ideas, all those stuffs. it involves your s...

Amazingness

image source "Wonderful work for Unimed Porto Alegre by Romeo e Juliet. Romeo e Juliet defined the elements and, once approved with the agency Escala, made the composition of the piece. Everything was drawn in pencil, traced, and transformed into 3D volumes and folds as if it were paper. In the end, the result is a piece rich and full of nice details."

SM Recorder

Image
so, i'm still on the journey to finish my first assignment, which is making a tissue box for premier. while we're doing this thing, we have to record all the process using one program. my lecture said one program name cam studio. but it doesn't really work properly on my computer. i was recording the process and suddenly it's freezing. twice! damn! then i searched for another program and found this one : SMRecorder. you can google it, it's everywhere. it's free. and so far it works properly. simple appearance on the first opening. there's some settings when it starts to record. easy to use, and so far it's satisfying. so yeah, we have to make 4 tissue boxes for premier. just use one pattern with 4 different colour schemes. my design and colours have been approved. still need to put the details such as barcode, the company name, the amounts of the tissue, few little things. and hopefully it'll be done by tomorrow. yay! :D i actually like what i'm ...

A map of Carnaby Street, London, for Time Out Magazine. well, i'm still continue browsing through printnpattern.blogspot.com and found even more treasures i can't ever resist! there're 2 more illustrators i adore now, the first one is named Hennie Haworth . she's a freelance illustrator who lives and works in london. she studied illustration at Brighton University. above is my fave of her amazing artworks. that's not my style but i enjoy seeing her artworks, especially the maps section. it's kinda funny to find someone who has specialty in making maps. actually there're a lot of map projects outside, it's just not very common in my environment to have such an interesting project. another great thing about this illustrator is the type illustration she made. totally a blast! "AOKI" Livre jeunesse édité chez Milan http://www.editionsmilan.com (REPRODUCTION INTERDITE, Marque et modèle déposés) the second one is Annelore Parot , she's a fre...

la tour du monde de mouk

Image
i was opening one of my fave websites, printnpattern.blogspot.com and find this amazing book in one of their postings. and like..seriously this is the most beautiful thing i've ever seen!!! Le Tour Du Monde De Mouk ( Around the World with Mouk ) by Marc Boutavant is a children illustration book originated from france. with my big passion in illustration, how can i resist this beautiful thing?? i hope one of bookstores here have this book. the price isn't really expensive but the shipping is quite expensive though. i have seen in on amazone.co.uk and amazone.com the price is kinda the same. there're to types, paperback and hardcover. "In this French import, Mouk is a busy bear with a large head and tiny body, whose world feels like a Richard Scarry/manga mashup. He joins his animal friends at a chic Parisian restaurant just before leaving on a world tour (“So basically, you are dumping us,” one catlike friend comments), visiting places like Finland, the Sahara, ...

sarah and timothy by midori basho

Image
this is my fave children book. ironisnya tokoh2nya semua tikus while i'm afraid of ones. but these books got the most amazing and detail illustration. i only had 2 books of them. the first image and the 2nd one is 2 different books. you gotta see them by yourself to find how detail the illustration is. from the 2nd image above, you can see that there're a lot of things on the window display. i spent longer time seeing the objects one by one than reading the story. hehehe. i don't know whether they're still available on the bookstore since i read it when i was in kindergarten. craving to have all the books now. huwaaa~
